As a small, friendly, family-run business, they are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join their close-knit team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys designing practical, innovative machinery and wants to see their ideas come to life. Working remotely, you will create high-quality 3D designs and detailed technical drawings that form the backbone of the company’s equipment and project concepts.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM UK Time (40 hours per week) Note: Some flexibility available.

Responsibilities
3D Machinery Design: Use Autodesk Fusion 360 and/or Autodesk Inventor to produce high-quality designs, assemblies, and complex components.
Sheet Metal Development: Create and develop sheet metal designs, including folded panels, brackets, frames, and enclosures, from initial concept through to flat pattern manufacture.
Technical Documentation: Produce clear, accurate 2D drawings to support equipment proposals, technical manuals, and data sheets.
Process Visualization: Develop process flow diagrams and layout drawings to help visualize systems and manufacturing processes.
Production Readiness: Prepare detailed component and production drawings directly from 3D models, ensuring they are fully ready for fabrication or machining.
Collaboration & Quality: Partner with the wider team to review designs, optimize for manufacturability, and ensure all output meets safety and quality standards.
File Management: Maintain rigorous drawing files and revision control to keep project documentation organized and up to date.
Requirements
Software Proficiency: Strong experience using Autodesk Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, or similar 3D CAD platforms.
Sheet Metal Expertise: Solid understanding of sheet metal design, including bending, folding, and fabrication principles.
Drafting Standards: Confident in producing both 3D models and professional-standard 2D technical drawings.
Engineering Fundamentals: Good grasp of mechanical design principles, materials science, and modern manufacturing processes.
Communication: Clear communicator who enjoys collaborating within a small, initiative-driven team.
Detail-Oriented: Highly organized with a commitment to producing accurate and well-presented technical work.
Qualifications
Experience designing specialized machinery or process equipment is a significant bonus.
Background in creating renderings for customer-facing materials and manuals.
Proven ability to manage version control in a remote design environment.
Side Note
This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer capable of running high-demand CAD software and a reliable internet connection. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Professional hourly fees are established based on your performance in the application process.
